ADAS calibration in San Antonio. After any windshield replacement on a vehicle with lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise, or a forward-facing camera, the camera must be recalibrated to factory spec. We do static and dynamic calibration in-house — no separate appointment, no driving across town.
ADAS — Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — covers the family of safety features that depend on a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield: lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and on some vehicles, automatic high-beam control.
The camera reads the road ahead and sends data to the vehicle’s computer. The position and angle of that camera have to be precise — millimeters of misalignment translate to several meters of error at distance. When a windshield is removed and replaced, the camera position shifts. Without recalibration, the camera reads the road incorrectly, which can disable safety features or cause them to misfire (phantom braking, lane-departure warnings on a straight road, missed obstacles).
Performed in our bay using manufacturer-specific target boards positioned at exact distances from the vehicle. The vehicle’s computer is connected via OBD-II, and the camera is taught the target positions. Most BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Honda, Toyota, Ford, and GM vehicles require static calibration after windshield replacement.
Performed by driving the vehicle on prescribed roads at prescribed speeds while the calibration software runs. The camera self-calibrates against real-world lane markings and road features. Some Subaru, Nissan, and Tesla vehicles use dynamic calibration; many vehicles require both static and dynamic.
The forward camera is the specific module that needs recalibration. We document the before/after position, the calibration result, and the test verification on every job.
Anytime the windshield is removed and replaced — including chip-repair work that for some reason required the windshield to come out — the camera position has shifted enough to require recalibration. Some vehicles also require calibration after wheel alignment, suspension work, or front-end body repair.
If you’ve had a windshield replacement at another shop and your dashboard is showing camera fault codes, or your lane-keep / emergency braking is behaving strangely, we can recalibrate as a standalone service.
Comprehensive auto insurance covers ADAS calibration when it’s performed alongside a covered windshield replacement. Many Texas policies include zero-deductible glass coverage, which means a lot of customers pay nothing for the install + calibration package. We file the claim including calibration as a line item.

Static calibration: 60–90 minutes. Dynamic calibration: 30–60 minutes plus drive time. Vehicles requiring both: 90–150 minutes total. Performed back-to-back with the windshield install on the same day.
If your vehicle has lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, or a forward-facing camera, then yes — ADAS calibration is required after any windshield replacement. We confirm by VIN before the install.
Strongly not recommended. An uncalibrated camera can disable safety features entirely or cause misfires (phantom braking, false lane-departure warnings). Beyond safety, your insurer may not honor a claim if you skipped manufacturer-required calibration. We document calibration on every install.
Yes. If you had your windshield replaced elsewhere and need recalibration, we can do it as a standalone job. Bring the vehicle to our shop with documentation of the prior install if you have it.
