Auto Glass Insurance Claims

We file your windshield and auto glass insurance claim from start to finish — no calls to your adjuster, no paperwork in your inbox. Many Texas policies include zero-deductible glass coverage, which means a lot of our customers pay nothing out of pocket.

Auto Glass Insurance in Texas

Most personal auto policies in Texas include comprehensive coverage, which is the part of your insurance that pays for damage from things you didn’t crash into — falling tree limbs, hail, vandalism, and yes, rocks kicked up off I-35 or 1604. Auto glass damage falls under comprehensive on almost every policy.

What makes Texas different from many states is that Texas regulators have allowed insurers to offer comprehensive coverage with a zero-deductible glass endorsement — sometimes added by default, sometimes available for a small premium increase. When that endorsement is on your policy, your insurer pays the full cost of windshield repair or replacement and you pay nothing.

Whether your specific policy has that endorsement is something we can verify in a single phone call to your carrier. We do that as part of every quote — for free, before you commit to anything.

Will I Pay Anything Out of Pocket?

Honest answer: it depends on your policy. Many Texas policies include zero-deductible glass coverage, which means a lot of our customers pay nothing out of pocket. But not every policy has that endorsement, and we don’t want to promise you a $0 outcome before we know what your specific contract says.

Here’s what we can promise:

  • We bill your insurance directly. You don’t write a check that gets reimbursed later.
  • We verify your coverage before we order the glass, so you know what you’re paying (if anything) before any work starts.
  • If your policy has glass coverage at zero deductible, you pay $0.
  • If your policy has glass coverage with a deductible (commonly $100, $250, or $500), you pay only that deductible.
  • If your policy doesn’t include comprehensive coverage at all, we’ll tell you what an out-of-pocket replacement looks like for your specific vehicle.

No surprises. No “we’ll figure it out at the end.” If anything changes between quote and install, we tell you before we proceed.

How a Glass Claim Goes With Us

Step 1 — Send Damage Details and Insurance Info

Use the quote form to send a photo of the damage, your vehicle’s year/make/model, and the name of your insurance carrier. Or give us a call. We’ll handle the rest from there.

Step 2 — We Verify Coverage and File the Claim

Before we order glass, we contact your carrier, verify your comprehensive and glass coverage, confirm your deductible, and file the claim under your policy number. You don’t talk to anyone except us.

Step 3 — Install + Final Paperwork

We replace or repair the glass at our shop or at your location, recalibrate ADAS if needed, and submit the final invoice to your carrier the same day. The claim is closed by the time we leave.

What You’ll Need to Start

From you:

  • Your name, phone, and the address where you want service
  • Your insurance carrier and policy number
  • The vehicle (year, make, model — VIN is even better)
  • A photo of the damage if you can manage one

From us (we handle these):

  • Coverage verification call to your carrier
  • Claim filing under your policy
  • Quote of any deductible owed
  • Glass sourcing and scheduling
  • Direct-bill paperwork at completion

A Word About “Preferred Networks”

Some insurance carriers steer customers to specific glass vendors through “preferred networks” or third-party administrators (Lynx, Safelite Solutions, Glaxis). You don’t have to use them — Texas law allows you to choose your own auto glass shop, and your insurer must honor that choice and pay the claim. If your carrier or their TPA tells you you have to go elsewhere, that’s not accurate. We file claims with every major carrier directly, and we’ll walk you through how to redirect a claim if it’s been routed to a network vendor without your consen

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my insurance cover windshield replacement in Texas?

If your policy includes comprehensive coverage, almost certainly yes — comprehensive covers windshield damage from rocks, debris, hail, and weather. The two questions to verify are (a) whether you carry comprehensive, and (b) what your deductible is for glass claims. We verify both with your carrier before we order glass, free of charge.

Depends on your specific policy. Many Texas policies include zero-deductible glass coverage, which means many of our customers pay nothing out of pocket. Other policies carry deductibles ranging from $100 to $500. We confirm what your deductible is — if any — before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Generally, no. Comprehensive claims for not-at-fault damage (rocks, hail, debris) are typically rated differently than at-fault collision claims. That said, every insurer’s underwriting is different, and a single specific answer for your policy comes from your carrier — not us. Most Texas drivers we work with don’t see a rate change after a single glass claim, but we recommend asking your agent if you have concerns.

No. Texas law gives you the right to choose your own auto glass shop. If your insurance company or their network administrator tells you you must use a specific provider, that’s not accurate. You can choose River City Auto Glass — or any other certified shop — and your insurer is required to pay the claim under the same terms.

All major Texas carriers, including State Farm, GEICO, USAA, Allstate, Progressive, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Travelers, American Family, Mercury, MetLife, Texas Farm Bureau, and The Hartford. We also handle most regional and specialty carriers — if you don’t see yours listed, we’ll confirm at quote time.

No. We file the claim for you as part of our service. Most customers call us before they ever talk to their insurance company. We collect your basic info, contact your carrier on your behalf, verify coverage, file the claim, and confirm what you’ll owe (often $0) before we order glass.

The claim itself usually takes 10–15 minutes on the phone with your carrier. Glass scheduling depends on stock for your specific vehicle — common windshields are usually available same-day, specialty glass may take a day or two. From first call to drive-away is typically same-day or next-day for the most common claims.

Denials on legitimate comprehensive glass claims are uncommon, but they happen — usually because of a coverage gap (no comprehensive on the policy), a recent policy change, or a clerical issue at the carrier. If it happens, we tell you immediately and walk you through the options: appealing the denial, paying out-of-pocket, or holding the work until coverage is corrected.
